After another challenging year for many of us, let’s make a pact to have some good, ol’ fashioned fun this Christmas time. Agreed?
We know it’s still a way off, but ‘tis the season to get your gut primed. Good gut health takes time. No quick fixes with your gut or your overall health.
To maximise the Xmas fun factor, we should get our guts in order. The gut is the place where our energy is fueled, our waste is dealt with and our mood is regulated. Having those three things in order will go a long way to ensuring this Christmas is one to remember.
We’ll explore the many aspects of good gut health in upcoming blogs, starting at the start - getting rid of the waste in our digestive system.
Let’s get to it!
Waste not
Waste be gone! But not too quickly! Supercharged Food is about nutritional choices and inspiration, not about quick fixes and drastic measures (they don’t work, by the way. Slow and steady wins the health race, every time).
So start with a gentle spring clean (or an autumnal clean for our Upper Hemisphere friends).
Use the rest of November to do just one main job - clean your gut. We’ve said it before, but it bears repeating, that we can carry around between 500g and 3 kilos of undiscarded waste in our digestive system. This month let’s dislodge and get the waste out of our system.
Lee says, “With my clients I use the toothbrush analogy to impress upon them how waste gets stored and how daily cleaning of your gut is required.
It’s like brushing your teeth. You know the feeling when you’ve missed even one brush of your teeth? The furry film of plaque you can feel with your tongue? Then with a gentle brushing, you remove the plaque for a nice, smooth, clean feeling?
It’s the same with your gut. Like your mouth and teeth, all nutrition and hydration pass through there. It stands to reason that if you don’t give your gut a little scrub that some bacteria, plaque and waste will settle in.”
Waste removal
Do these simple actions over November and you’re a long way to having a cleaner, leaner gut.
1. Up your fibre intake. Foods rich in fibre are necessary for cleaning your insides. They act to get our bowels moving.
The three B’s: beans, broccoli and berries. Try to have one or more of these in every meal (though broccoli at breakfast might be a stretch, ha). Also keep on hand avocado and chia seeds - use freely!
2. Love Your Gut. Gently cleaning your gut is the primary role of our Love Your Gut diatomaceous earth powder and capsules. It’s a super gentle cleanse of the built-up waste. For a deeper, molecular level clean Love Your Gut Fulvic Humic will do the trick.
3. Water works. It’s simple really and we all have the best intentions but we still need to drink more water. And drink less draining liquids like coffee and alcohol. We also suggest adding a few drops of Love Your Gut Fulvic Humic to supercharge your water and its effect of deep cleansing.
In our upcoming November blogs we’ll explore more of the nutritional tips and tricks to get our guts clean. In December, we’ll move onto ways to get your gut environment flourishing for the festivities. Bring it on!
